Superheroes Occupy New York

#flashHeader{visibility:visible !important;}

Growing up, I never collected comic books. That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy comics. The Sunday funnies brought me Hal Foster's “Prince Valiant” and “Ripley's Believe It or Not.” The one superhero of my childhood was Superman, and he was in a black-and-white TV. This might explain my current fascination with New York Comic-Con.

The four-da y event last weekend in the Javits Center sold out two weeks before and was attended by more than100,000 people, many of them caped or quite furry.

The world of superheroes, comic book and Anime characters, movie and video story lines has grown by leaps and bounds - and it's all in glorious color. What intrigues me the most are the character roles that people take on. The amount of work and dedication that it takes to create some of their costumes is all-consuming and yet liberating.
